Guest Post - Fancy Seaside Rooms

Hello, I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday with their family and that you are now enjoying getting prepared for the other upcoming holiday's.

I know that it has been a while since I have personally posted and I want to thank you all for continuing to follow along.

I would also like to share with you that I will be
creating a new blog soon in addition to this one.

Hi, I'm Susi, a blogger over at Arcadian Lighting, a great source for light fixtures and decor inspiration. Thank you to Coastal Blue Ocean for allowing me to guest post on her wonderful blog! My post today is about fancy seaside rooms; interior spaces that raise the design bar for coastal style. Hope you enjoy these gorgeous seaside rooms.

This incredible lattice patterned foyer makes a grand statement. The coral provides a gorgeous accent and  incorporates the sea into this fancy nautical room.

Shell inlaid mirrors give a subtle nod to the sea in this sophisticated seaside bathroom. The fancy mirrors stand out in a sophisticated palette of gray and white. The faux bamboo on the vanity is an unexpected touch.

A range of blue tiles in graduated tones make for stunning walls in this sleek seaside kitchen. Gorgeous blue is complemented by stainless steel for a contemporary look.

Shorebirds on the sideboard give a nod to the seaside in this fancy dining room. Gorgeous shell like chairs, sparkling silver and blue set the seaside tone for the space. The lighting choices are beautiful—chandelier, blue table lamps and even shiny wall sconces with candles.

This blue and white dining room with colorful orange accents would be perfect for a seaside home. The blue and white wallpaper has almost a nautical feeling without being camp.

Seaside rooms can be awash in neutrals and still feel tied to the sea. This sophisticated living room would be right at home in a Hamptons or Nantucket beach home.

An incredible light fixture, the chandelier sets the tone for this fanciful dining room. Curtains create a soft wall that separates the space from the hall. Seaside colors of blues, greens and aquas are gorgeous mixed with whites.

Gorgeous blue-gray veined marble on the walls and counters of this coastal style kitchen give it a lovely seaside palette. Shiny chromes add sparkle to the light and airy seaside kitchen.

Hi everyone! My name is Kristy and I live on the West Coast of Florida with my husband and two beautiful daughters.  Several years ago, we decided to leave the fast-paced life of a land-locked big city and move back to Florida to raise our family.  As a professional interior designer for over 15 years, my portfolio includes all kinds of houses across the Southeast click here - but I personally prefer the simple, laid-back coastal cottage style for our home.

Today, she will be sharing her DIY Beach Themed Subway Art project.
I just loved it so much that I wanted her to share it with all of you.


Hi Ladies,

I would like to thank Coastal Blue Ocean for asking me to do a guest post on my Subway art project. I am happy to share this with you, and I hope you enjoy it.

           Traditionally Subway writing is done on a black background with cream letters.

 Subway art is a huge trend right now.There is so much you can do make it personal and creative. I have been so inspired by all the subway art I am seeing lately by so many creative ladies I decided to give it a try..Alas, I don't have a silhouette machine or any vinyl letters. I like quick and easy, so instead.. I used the photo editing program Picnik. If you aren't familiar with it, check it out. I already had the premium account, which I recommend, If you are going to do this project  After you have created your account, click on Collage on the main page.

 Pick the collage style you want. I would use a bigger one. On left hand side of the page, make the line spacing as small as you can, Choose your color background. I chose a dark color for the tutorial so you can see it..

Click on the word HIGH for high resolution. Then click DONE.

                

You will now be on the editing and creation page. Go to re size and UN CLICK keep proportions.

type in the numbers 1924 in the first box and 2400 in the second box. This will give your page the correct  proportions for and 8x10 print. I haven't figured out how to do 5x7 yet.

Yay! now you have reached the fun part. What is your theme going to be? This can be done for just about anything, but of course I chose the beach theme. I wrote down all the words I could think of associated with the beach. If you have the PREMIUM acct, you will have access to more fonts I know this can be done on Microsoft Word, that will be my next one to try..

                        

                                   I kept typing using different fonts and  sizes and colors until I got this.......

What I thought was going to be quick and easy took me about 6 hours! That is because  I was trying to get every word placed properly. It is kind of like a jigsaw puzzle. It was really fun! I printed it out on the printer. I used photography paper.The first time I printed it on the opposite side of the paper, and the colors weren't as true. I re did it on the glossy side and the colors were more vibrant.

I got a 14.00 frame from Walmart that came with a mat.
